Don’t Miss, The Farm Tokyo – CLOSED

Tokyo is a city that is always transforming. Especially in the lead up to the 2020 Olympics, there seems to be constant cycle of demolition, construction, and new building all over the city. I’m usually a little sad to see familiar sites go, but occasionally an empty lot is turned into a great temporary beer garden or food spot.

The Farm Tokyo is a temporary beer terrace across from Tokyo Station, surrounded by skyscrapers, and neighbors a construction site. Yet somehow, the green outdoor space feels like an escape from the city. It’s only open until October 31, so I recommend visiting while you can.

The creative use of old cargo containers, wood pallets, and Coleman camping chairs provide a rustic urban feel. There is a bakery and coffee shop, bar, food vendors, and a reservation only BBQ area.

During the day, it’s a great place to grab a drink and escape the heat. The Lemonade Beer was refreshing, but somehow heavier than a typical shandy. The Green Vegetable and Apple Beer tasted unsurprisingly like the name, basically a green smoothie mixed with beer.

I suggest sticking with the typical Suntory Premium Malt’s. The highballs were also good, particularly the Special Lemon Sour made with a whole lemon!

We tried the Corn and Basil Pizza. The crust was the real deal, but it was a little heavy on the Kewpie Mayo. The new Cheese Pumpkin Autumn pizza looks like a better bet. We didn’t try the Grill, but I heard great reviews.

The place is absolutely beautiful when the sun goes down and the city lights up. I’m already a pushover when it comes to city lights, the greenery and strings of light are magical.

It’s like a backyard hideout for grownups in the middle of the city.

The rooftop over the bar offers a view of the Yaesu entrance of Tokyo Station.

You can almost forget that you are next to a major construction site.
