Finding Fairies, A Day At Wells House

One of my favorite things about traveling is catching up with old friends. In Dublin, I always catch up with a long-time friend and her lovely family. Luckily for me, this usually involves a day-trip out of Dublin. This time her two adorable little girls decided that we should visit Wells House and Gardens, a grand historic Victorian house in County Wexford, with 450 acres of woods and gardens.  It located 110km from Dublin and really only accessible by car.

The real reason the girls wanted to visit, was the magical fairy doors that are hidden through the woodland walk. In addition the the fairies, the woodland is home to the Gruffalo and other characters from the children’s book. Wells House has an animal farm, falconry center, full service restaurant, and afternoon tea in the house dining room.

Undoubtedly though, the highlight was watching the girls chasing through the woods in search of the fairies.

  • One of my favorite authors, Maeve Binchy lived in Dublin. I read almost all her books and looked forward to her new publications.
I lost my expectation when she died a few years ago.
Your amazing photos of Dublin, excellent cuisine, and the magical woodland convinced me to go there, see them and taste them in real life. Thank you, it will be wonderful.

    • Thanks so much Sumi! Maeve Binchy is one of my favorite authors too. I hope you visit!
