Mazel Tov Budapest

Mazel Tov is a magical space in Budapest’s historic Jewish Quarter. Known as a ruin bar for its reuse of a derelict building, Mazel Tov elevates the concept with its hanging vines, globe lights, soaring space, and glass ceiling.

The level of Mediterranean and Middle Eastern food offerings matches the decor. We started with a plate of Labane, yogurt cream cheese with olive oil, za’atar and olives.

The creamy Hummus was something special. We got ours with grilled mushrooms, falafel, and Israeli salad. Make sure to ask for some spice on the side.

The tender Chicken Shawarma was perfectly seasoned and served with Matbucha tomato and pepper salad, beetroot salad, and parsley tahini. There was plenty of fresh warm pita bread for the table.

For a ruin bar, the drinks didn’t disappoint. The Apriplum was the perfect hot drink for winter, with apricot palinka, Unicum plum, cinnamon, black currant. It had the perfect level of sweetness, and the traditional Hungarian sprits packed a punch.

Mazel Tov consistently served excellent cocktails. Refreshing and balanced, without being overly sweet.

The greenery, lights, perfect cocktails, great food, and amazing company made for a memorable evening.
